Der Länderindikator 2017 stellt zum dritten Mal für Deutschland repräsentative Befunde zur schulischen Medienbildung in der Sekundarstufe I vor. Mit diesem Bildungsmonitoring kann der Stand der Implementation digitaler Medien in Lehr- und Lernprozessen auf Bundeslandebene erfasst werden, sodass auch spezifische Entwicklungsimpulse gegeben werden können. Entwicklungen seit dem Länderindikator 2015 und 2016 können dabei für die Bereiche der schulischen Ausstattung mit digitalen Medien, deren Nutzung im Unterricht sowie für die Förderung der medienbezogenen Kompetenzen von Schülerinnen und Schülern abgebildet werden. Die Selbsteinschätzung der medienbezogenen Kompetenzen der Lehrkräfte kann im Vergleich zu den Befunden des Länderindikators 2016 betrachtet werden.
Darüber hinaus wird mit dem Länderindikator 2017 der thematische Schwerpunkt auf die Nutzung digitaler Medien in den MINT-Fächern im Vergleich zu den weiteren Unterrichtsfächern gelegt. Insbesondere werden bei dieser gruppenspezifischen Betrachtung die Bereiche der Medienerziehung, der informatischen Grundbildung sowie Anwendungsbereiche digitaler Medien im Fachunterricht betrachtet. Zudem geben Schulportraits von Schulen mit MINT-Schwerpunkten, die digitale Medien in besonderer Weise einSetzen, praktische Einblicke und Anreize für die schulische Medienbildung.
