Ya no existen mecenas que financien proyectos de esta laya. Tuve, pues, que llevar a cabo el viaje mediante la inventiva. Se trataba de escribir un libro a la manera de la Ilíada, la Odisea, la Eneida o la Divina Comedia, pero en el mismo, el protagonista no sería un héroe ni un alma en busca de Dios, sino el propio mar.»
